Description of Course - Open category A1 - A2 - A3
This course combines clear theory with practical flight exercises and suits both new pilots and those who want to strengthen their knowledge ahead of more advanced flying.
Theory - regulations you can use in real life
The theory part follows the EASA Easy Access Rules for UAS and gives you an understanding of how the rules actually work in practice.
Among other things, we cover:
- The Open category (A1, A2 and A3) - what sets them apart
- Drone classes (C0-C4) and how they affect where you may fly
- Where are you allowed to fly?
- Airspace, geographical zones and restrictions
- People, buildings and safety distances
- The responsibilities of the operator and the pilot
- Flight safety, risk awareness and good airmanship
- Weather, wind and environmental effects on flying
- Privacy, camera use and GDPR
- Pre-flight planning and post-flight follow-up
The theory is mixed with examples, discussions and real-world scenarios, not just regulatory text.
Practice - supervised flying
After the theory, the knowledge is put into practice through flight exercises focusing on safety, control and correct application of the rules.
The practical elements include:
- Preparations and system checks
- Safe take-off and landing
- Basic manoeuvring and precision flying
- Assessment of the flight area and surroundings
- Emergency procedures and risk management
- Practical application of the A1/A2/A3 rules in the field
Flying takes place in open, rural landscapes in southern Halland, providing calm and realistic conditions for learning.
Training at Scandinavian Drone
With us, you are trained in pleasant premises, with modern drone technology and instructors with hands-on experience from professional operations.
We work with everything from small, lightweight drones to large industrial systems, including platforms such as the DJI Matrice 400. This gives you not only knowledge of the Open category, but also an understanding of how drones are used in real, professional missions.
The training is held in small groups with a focus on quality, safety and personal guidance.
Catering
During the course we provide a light breakfast and afternoon coffee, as well as free access to both cold and hot drinks. Lunch can be bought at one of the local lunch restaurants in Laholm or Mellbystrand.
